VideoFrenkie de Jong had a wonderful evening in Naples with FC Barcelona. The midfielder had an important part in the 2-4 victory over Napoli with a beautiful goal and a nice transition, which means that the Catalans qualify for the eighth finals of the Europa League.
De Jong received the ball in the thirteenth minute with a heel by Ferran Torres and after a short dribble he gave the nailed Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret from about 25 meters away. It meant the 0-2, after Jordi Alba had opened the score early from a counterattack.
Remarkably enough, it is only his first goal at European club level for De Jong after 46 games. In recent days, the Orange international has had a good taste, because last weekend he also scored in the 1-4 league match against Valencia.

Lorenzo Insigne reduced the tension with a penalty that was used, but before halftime the strong playing Barcelona recovered the margin of two goals difference thanks to Gerard Pique. In the second half, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang even made it 1-4 after a nice transfer from De Jong. The Gabonese goalscorer was replaced by Luuk de Jong in the final phase.
Matteo Politano eased the suffering for Napoli somewhat, but by then many fans were already on their way home. The first match between the two clubs had ended in 1-1 at the Camp Nou last week, so that the tension had disappeared for a while.
FC Barcelona started this season in the Champions League, under coach Ronald Koeman, but only finished third in the group stage. The Catalans therefore descended to the Europa League, in which they were linked to Napoli in the intermediate round. In the competition, the team of current coach Xavi is in fourth place, with a gap of no less than fifteen points on leader Real Madrid.
