Germany’s tennis hope Ella Seidel can continue to dream of her second qualification for the main field of a Grand Slam tournament. In order to be able to start in round one at the French Open 2025, the 20 -year -old still has to get a hurdle out of the way – the same applies to Tamara Korpatsch.
Thanks to a clear increase in performance, Ella Seidel is in the qualification for the French Open 2025 in the final for participation. Panna Udvardy from Hungary in the second round defeated the German, which is currently led to position 114 in the world rankings, 3: 6, 6: 2 and 6: 3.
Seidel increased in the course of the game, especially with her own serve and only had to accept a break in the two decisive rounds before using her first match ball at Service Udvardy after around two hours. So far, Seidel has only reached the main field at the Australian Open 2024.
In the final for a place in the main field, Seidel now stands in the way of Japanese Nao Hibino (number 200 in the world rankings). Hibino surprisingly prevailed against Bianca Andreescu (number 102 of the world rankings) from Canada.
Corpatsch also has a chance of the main field of the French Open
The 24-year-old, who sensationally won the US Open in 2019, but was then repeatedly thrown back by injuries, had given Chinese Xinxin Yao (number 261 in the world rankings) in round one at 6: 0 and 6: 0. Against Hibino she had to give up with 6: 2, 6: 7 and 4: 6.
Only one victory also separates Tamara Korpatsch from the main field in Roland Garros. The number 148 of the WTA ranking gave Canadian Marina Stakusic (number 126 of the world rankings) in 6: 2 and 6: 1. Rebeka Masarova (number 124 of the world rankings) from Switzerland is now waiting in the final of the qualification.
The 30-year-old corpatsch has been in the main field at eight out of ten possible majors since Wimbledon in 2022. However, she never reached more than round two.
From a German perspective, Anna-Lena also plays Friedam in qualification. The 31-year-old meets the Italian Sara Errani in the semifinals, who was in the final in France in 2012. Errani had turned off in round one Jule Niemeier.
