French maternity offers 1,000 euros to mothers who come to give birth there

To maintain the number of births and prevent closure, the municipality of Saint-Amand-Montrond promises future parents a 1,000 euro gift voucher if their baby is born in the local maternity unit. The money can be spent in shops in the region. Half of the amount, 500 euros, is paid by the municipality itself and the other 500 euros by the community of surrounding municipalities. The measure will apply from January 1, 2026, reports the French television channel France 3 Val-de-Loire.
