‘French kidnapper’ of Dutch businessman arrested: ‘This is absolutely not a sweetheart’ | Abroad

marbellaIn the Spanish resort of Fuengirola, the Spanish police again arrested a Frenchman in connection with the kidnapping of Dutch businessman Jamal B. from Roosendaal two years ago. This is confirmed by his Dutch lawyer. This is the third arrest in this case. At least two other kidnappers are still being sought.

The police in southern Spain are gradually getting a picture of the men who spectacularly kidnapped B. in the summer of 2020. It would be a very violent gang from France, consisting of trained assassins. They are held responsible, among other things, for several liquidations and murders on the Costa del Sol.

Rich businessmen

The criminals would mainly target wealthy businessmen. On Sunday, August 9, 2020, the investigators hear a conversation that shows that the suspects are looking for a Dutchman of Moroccan origin. They talk about the cars he uses – in particular a ‘modified’ Mercedes Mansory -, the places he frequents, how to locate him and that an attempt should be made on his person. The men are also talking about a white gold watch from the luxury brand Richard Mille.

After that, developments follow each other quickly. The Dutch target is robbed of his clock with an estimated value of around 400,000 euros at a gas station the following weekend. Another week later he is kidnapped after a restaurant visit with his partner in Nuevo Andalucía, a residential area in Marbella close to the exclusive marina. Two vehicles, one of which has a blue flashing light, drive the Mercedes Mansory of the Dutchman close to the restaurant around 10 p.m. Eight men in police uniforms jump out of the cars and force him to get out and come along at gunpoint. It soon turns out that they are criminals disguised as cops.

B.’s wife sees it all happen. Jamal was forced into a vehicle by a blond person with medium length hair and striking blue eyes. I will never forget the look in his eyes and I would recognize him if the Spanish police would allow me to do a photo search,” the woman said in an open letter. Since then, every trace of the Dutchman has been missing. “The question is whether we will ever find him. The suspects are keeping their mouths shut for the time being,” says B’s lawyer. For security reasons, he prefers to remain anonymous. “These are definitely not sweethearts. I assume that my client is no longer alive.”

Huge reward

The Frenchman arrested on Tuesday is known to the Spanish police, the Spanish newspaper reports El Confidential. He had been wanted for some time. Two weeks ago, two other Frenchmen aged 37 and 42 were arrested. They also belong to the same gang. The police also have a fourth suspect in their sights who is currently already serving a sentence in France for another criminal offense. “We are also looking for at least two suspects,” says the lawyer. Their identities are known. “They know who they are, the Spanish police are on top of it. And that would be about time, because the research was at a standstill for more than two years.”
