A group of ten Purmerendse Freerunners is trying to realize a new freerun park. Freerunnen – seeing A to B in a creative way – can already be done in a sports hall in Purmerend, but they would also like to practice outside without causing nuisance.

There is a petition that has certainly been signed 450 times and the alderman has already seen a demo of the future park. “He seemed enthusiastic,” says 25-year-old initiator Dani Brouwers. The teacher of Freerunschool Progression Academy is confident that the plan will succeed. “It’s going in the right direction.”

Dani outlines the plan: “We have made a drawing for a park of ten by fifteen meters.” There are many different obstacles, made of concrete and wood, with a soft surface for safety. “We want to have such a place where everyone can practice and exercise.”

But why outside of freerunnen if you can enter that too? Dani: “Freerunnen naturally comes from the street. When it is given inside you often get the question:” When will we go outside? ” Then I unfortunately have to give the answer that this is not possible in Purmerend. “

At the moment the Freerunners are looking at Park de Driegang in Purmer-Zuid. There is a lot of space there. Soon they will be around with the municipality to work out their plans.

Then the cost: the plans cost around 75,000 euros. “Of course it is about money, of course, a game has to be found. But when I saw how enthusiastic everyone was, I have a lot of faith in it.”
