Amazon Prime has been available in Germany since 2007: According to a Statista survey from 2019, a full 63 percent of Germans use the paid subscription. Amazon Prime Music and Video
In addition to the premium shipping conditions, Amazon’s Netflix competitor Amazon Prime Video is known: The films and series included can be streamed for free and unlimited. The same applies to the Prime Music app, where many songs can be downloaded for free and therefore also listened to offline.
By the way: There is also Prime Reading – similar to Prime Music and Prime Video, only with e-books: Prime customers receive a limited e-book flat rate as part of their subscription. You get access to a changing selection of e-books, e-magazines, comics and Kindle singles, available to you at no extra charge. However, the selection is limited.
Amazon Photos
The Prime application Amazon Photos competes with platforms like Google Photos: The secure cloud storage service offers Prime members unlimited storage space for photos. On top of that there is 5 GB of free storage space for videos. Subscribers can upload, download, edit albums, and search their photos by people, places, and things.
Another special feature is the fact that a Prime subscriber can “invite” up to five family members or friends or acquaintances to Prime Photos, so that shared memories can also be managed together. The alternative cloud storage service Amazon Drive also offers Prime users unlimited storage space for photos and 5 GB of storage space for other files. However, Amazon Drive will only be supported until December 31, 2023.
Guest option
The Amazon Prime guest option offers Prime subscribers the opportunity to designate another person in their household who can enjoy the shipping benefits. Who this person from the household is can be decided at any time – as long as they are older than 18 years.
Customers who signed up for Prime before November 8, 2017 can even designate up to four such guests.
AmazonFamily
Prime subscribers have the opportunity to choose various Amazon Family special options that can make everyday life easier for families: After specifying the child’s age, the customer receives up to 20 percent discount on diapers and baby food as well as personalized baby product recommendations and coupons.
Users of the Family Savings subscription have discounts of up to 15 percent on repeat deliveries and the third family offer, the so-called pantry subscription, includes, among other things, cheaper delivery of (family) everyday items.
There is also Amazon Kids – an Amazon site that is child-friendly in terms of content and operation and can be controlled and monitored by parents.
Amazon Business
In addition to the special offers for families, there is Amazon Business with special offers for business people and companies – such as free delivery of orders with an order value of at least 20 euros, purchase on account, which is practical for tax purposes, and special items for company needs.
Twitch Prime
There are also Amazon options for gamers: Twitch Prime is a community platform on which gamers can exchange ideas with each other and watch others play in a live stream.
There is also exclusive in-game loot every month, free games, a free subscription to Twitch.tv, special discount campaigns and special functions that allow you to unlock certain game characters.
Lightning Deals and Booking.com
Every Prime user can access the offer 30 minutes before all other Amazon customers when a flash or special offer is released and therefore has significantly better chances of finding a bargain.
And in a cooperation with the Booking.com portal, Amazon also offers its Prime customers great advantages: While non-Prime subscribers book their accommodation when traveling via Booking.com and pay the normal price, Prime customers benefit from exclusive discounts and You will permanently receive 10 percent of the booking amount back in the form of travel credit in your own Booking.com account.
Prime Wardrobe and Amazon Coins
If you are not an Amazon Prime subscriber, you must pay the price of the goods immediately when ordering, only then will the goods be shipped. Prime users, on the other hand, have the advantage of being able to pay for clothing later – i.e. after a seven-day fitting period. This saves a lot of effort if the item of clothing doesn’t fit.
Amazon Coins are for the real bargain hunters among Prime users: When purchasing items specified by Amazon, Prime users receive so-called Amazon Coins, which correspond to discount points on further purchases. The more coins, the higher the discounts. Amazon Coins can also be purchased explicitly – but you should calculate whether it is really worth it. 100 Amazon Coins correspond to one euro discount.
