The American sprinter, the Italian’s rival, was stopped with a taser

January 3 – 8.46pm – MILAN

Fred Kerley, Olympic bronze medalist in the 100 meters in Paris, was arrested Thursday in Miami Beach, Florida, on charges of assault and resisting a public official. This is what the police told WSVN-TV in Miami. It appears that the arrest is the result of a dispute between Kerley and the police regarding the former’s car parked near the site of an investigation. Police said Kerley refused to leave when asked, became aggressive, took on a threatening attitude and was eventually restrained with a Taser.

Jacobs rival

The American Kerley, 29, is one of the leading sprinters at the moment and one of Marcell Jacobs’ rivals. In addition to the bronze in Paris, he also won a silver in Tokyo in 2021 just behind the blue and five medals at the world championships, one at the indoor world championships and two medals from the Diamond League.
