Three and a half years ago, Oscar Fraulo came to Borussia Mönchengladbach from FC Midtjylland with great praise, but was never able to fulfill the expectations placed on him. After two loans to FC Utrecht, he was supposed to make another attempt at the Foals this season, but this also failed. Now the Bundesliga chapter is finally ending.

According to a report by the Danish football magazine Tipsbladet, Derby County have agreed with Gladbach on a transfer of the midfielder, who will sign in England until 2029. Fraulo is under contract with Borussia until the summer of 2026 and could have agreed on a free transfer after the end of the season from January 1st, but instead the transfer will take place immediately this winter. Gladbach is likely to receive a small transfer fee.
The English second division team had already shown interest twelve months ago when Fraulo was still active in Utrecht. However, Gladbach decided against breaking off the loan early because the Dane showed good performances in the Eredivisie, which once again fueled hopes of a breakthrough in the Bundesliga. After 64 games (6 goals, 7 assists) for Utrecht, which resulted in an increase in market value of 3.5 million euros, Borussia again went to the bank.
In total, Fraulo only appeared on the field seven times for Gladbach’s professionals; he scored his only goal this season on matchday 9 in a 4-0 win against FC St. Pauli. He was not used in the last six competitive games under coach Eugen Polanski.
