Franziska Preuss experiences the best season of her life. This is also financially worthwhile for the German biathlete.
It will be exciting at the weekend in Oslo: Franziska Preuß has 20 points ahead of the French Lou JeanMonnot in the fight for victory in the overall World Cup. There are still a maximum of 270 points to win at the Holmenkollen via Norway’s capital Pro athlete, 90 for every win.
With seven points, Preuss leads to Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (also France) in the sprint rating and is also ahead in the mass start. She lies 41 points in front of the Swede Elvira Öberg. In the singles, Preuss is second in the persecution of third parties.
It is the result of an outstanding season of the 31-year-old who was able to call up almost constant top performance. After the start of over 7.5 kilometers in the sprint, persecution and mass start will follow in Oslo until Sunday. “I still have the small advantage,” said Preuss, who took a short visit to the home in Ruhpolding for relaxation before arriving: “I just do my best, you can’t do more anyway.”
A drive in Oslo will also be the prize money that Prussia can win. The overall victory would bring in 40,000 euros, second place still 32,000 euros – of course before taxes.
It would be a great success for the German, the large crystal ball and the 40,000 euros. But: the season would be without an extremely lucrative.
Preuss collected four medals at the World Cup in Switzerland and got a total of 55,000 euros, the highlight was gold in the persecution thanks to a perfect race without a shooting error that earned 25,000 euros.
Through all placements for individual competitions and also seasons, Preuss has already taken around 230,000 euros, including the World Cup. In addition, she has second place in the overall ranking. Julia Simon in third place is 240 points behind Preuss, all three competitions in Oslo would have to win (270 points), while the Germans would have to put everything more or less in the sand to pass by.
For Prussia, the 32,000 euros are quite likely to get there, possibly even 40,000 euros for the overall victory plus the funds that they occupy in the individual races. For victories in the discipline ratings in which it leads, another 12,000 euros would be added.
Prussia could end the season with more than 300,000 euros in prize money. A stately sum for the best German biathlete.
