Frans Bauer wanted to give up career for Mariska: ‘She is my everything’

Frans Bauer was ready to give up his career if his wife Mariska needed 24-hour care after her stroke last year. The singer knew that from the moment he entered the hospital with her, he says in Ruud de Wild’s podcast 30 MINUTES RAUW.

“I just said: ‘If Maris doesn’t come out here, I’ll stop singing. Then I’ll take care of her completely’. Yes, absolutely,” says Bauer in conversation with De Wild, who then asked the singer whether “that should be ‘. “Yes, I don’t have to, I just want to. She is the mother of my four children. We are always together.”

Squealing tires
Mariska is now largely back to her old self. But Bauer is still terrified. The singer has become a hypochondriac. “Yes, I am someone who, if he feels something, immediately gets into the car to drive to a doctor. And certainly when it comes to Mariska, if she shows any dizziness, then it is with squeaking tires towards the GP station. And if I can’t reach them, an ambulance will be there in no time.”

“And if he is not there yet, then you can see me with Maris in the back seat towards the hospital or whatever,” Bauer continues. “Yes, I’m just seriously scared of it. She’s my everything. You only really realize that the moment you’re in a room, and you see your wife deteriorate.”
