They are both called French, but their images couldn’t be further apart. Frans Bauer is widely loved and praised for his down-to-earth attitude, Frans Duijts is a huge showman.
Frans Bauer has had more success in his musical career than Frans Duijts, but how is it possible that one stays with both feet on the ground and the other feels the need to poke others’ eyes out with his wealth? Of course, it all depends on your personality and Frans Duijts has a quite narcissistic and boastful side.
Damaged image
Both French people spend a lot of money and live in luxury, but Frans Duijts also feels the need to rub people’s noses with this. He picked up his new Ferrari in the summer, which is already a bit tacky, but he also invited a camera crew from Shownieuws to film it all.
Duijts’ image has been irreparably damaged, especially because he does not understand the criticism himself. He himself thinks that people don’t think he’s a showman at all, but that the media makes him that way. Huh?!
What does Frans think?
What does one French think of the other French? Bauer calls money ‘not a motivation’. “What should you do with it? You have to do what you have always done. Don’t act crazy all at once or you know what.”
And that is precisely the reason why there will not suddenly be a shiny Ferrari on your doorstep in Fijnaart anytime soon, he explains in the Weekend. “Not that you shouldn’t treat yourself, that’s all fine, but just do your thing.”
Car freak
Gallant as Bauer is, he spares Duijts when it comes to his showy behavior. “He is a complete car freak, he is so in love with cars. He tells me all about it when I meet him. I like that.”
Somewhat embarrassed, Bauer reveals that he himself has quite an expensive collection. “I have that with guitars. I have several guitars, fifteen of them, the most expensive of which costs 6,000 euros. I think that’s serious money, although of course it can’t be compared to a car like that.”
Cars and racing
Yes, such a Ferrari obviously costs a little more than those six thousand euros. “But,” Bauer concludes. “French always talks about cars and racing. He can talk for hours about something like a steering wheel. If he likes that… He’s not hurting anyone and he’s paying for it himself. As long as he doesn’t drive too fast, haha.”
