He celebrated several successes with France. Now Luka Karabatić ends on the international stage.

After more than ten years and five titles in the national jersey, French handball star Luka Karabatić ends his international career. The former captain announced this on Tuesday on Instagram. The 36-year-old became Olympic champion (2021) and twice world (2015, 2017) and European champion (2014, 2024). Most recently, Karabatić had won World Cup bronze with France.

“Today I am entitled to the end of my adventure with the French team,” wrote the district runner. It was a privilege for him to “wear this blue and white-red jersey that always made me dream so much”. He worked with “extraordinary players” and closed “strong friendships”. He is looking forward to “seeing this team continues to shine and makes people dream”.

Karabatić, younger brother of Nikola Karabatić, who had resigned after the Paris Olympic Games last year, debuted in the national team in 2011. He has been playing for Paris Saint-Germain since 2015.
