The Berliners stay at the top of the table and also win against Wetzlar 29:25 (12:10) in front of 8,473 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle.

But the fall escapade of Foxes star Hans Lindberg (41) – he broke his right hand under the influence of alcohol – does not leave the team unscathed. Unusually nervous and with many technical errors, the Berliners got off to a bad start. After 12 minutes, the foxes have only managed three goals (3:5).

The Lindberg replacement, on the other hand, shows no nerves. Robert Weber (37), who only arrived from Athens on Friday, doesn’t care about all the excitement.

He nets five times and also takes over the seven meters that Lindberg otherwise throws. Weber, who wears shirt number 73 from sports boss Stefan Kretzschmar (50), is celebrated in the Kretzschmar grandstand. The emergency flash obligation delivers – as hoped.

Weber: “I’m overwhelmed by the reception here. A dreamy start. I was very nervous, but I think I played quite well.”

In the end, the best throwers are Milos Vujovic and Mathias Gidsel – both with seven goals.
