Donny Roelvink understands very well that people are massively dropping from the Dutch Glamorgym Saints & Stars, he calls in the studio of RTL Boulevard. “You hear that more and more often, yes.”
Saints & Stars was known for years as the paradise for vain Dutch people, with Dyson-Föhns in the dressing room and treadmills in a light show as if you were doing in the Jimmy Woo. But behind that façade of luxury is a tough reality: dozens of cleaners from the Philippines and Indonesia were exploited under degrading conditions.
Donny takes a distance
Donny Roelvink is now also publicly distancing himself from the wrong gym of gym billionaire Tom Moos. Just like colleague Marieke Elsinga, he was one of the faces of Saints & Stars for years. And just like Marieke, he now lets you know in the RTL Boulevard studio that he wants nothing more to do with it.
Presenter Morad El Ouakili asks him in the show section: “The criticism of luxury sports school Saints & Stars continues to grow. More and more Dutch celebrities and trainers are expressing and many people seem to have canceled their subscription. Donny, have you heard more messages from people who cancel their subscription there?”
Nothing to do with
The influencing son of Dries Roelvink does not know how quickly he must distance himself from Saints & Stars. “Yes, that’s right, I sometimes did a shoot with them, but I think we all understand that if I had known in advance, it would not have been the case.”
He continues: “I understood, to what extent I got it, that there is now an investigation, but from the apps that have dived on it, you can say that it is really horrible. Then I can also understand that many people do not want to connect with it in any way.”
Bankrupt?
Morad finds it intense. “So you hear that people cancel their subscription?”
Donny: “You hear that more and more, yes.”
Rob Goossens, who is also in the studio and noticed a day before that just a new branch has been opened worth 15 million euros, seems to be sorting for a bankruptcy: “It seems that you could exercise very calmly today. Very strange.”
