More than a month after the squat of the century, the last alleged perpetrator of the museum robbery has been arrested. The man, who is said to have been part of the four-man commando that struck the Louvre on October 19, was arrested on Tuesday morning, November 25, in the Paris region.
His arrest followed weeks of detective work and discreet observation by the investigation team dealing with the theft.
Suspect (38) of Louvre art theft released, but under strict supervision
Pre-trial detention
The suspect is currently in pre-trial detention on suspicion of ‘theft by an organized gang’ and ‘conspiracy’. The man is said to have ties to the three other men who were previously arrested for the Louvre robbery.
All four suspects come from or live in Aubervilliers, a suburb of Paris in the Seine-Saint-Denis department.
Jewels are still sought after
According to surveillance camera images, it was a commando of four men who committed the daring burglary in France’s most famous museum on October 19. Two of the perpetrators used an aerial platform to enter the Apollo Gallery, where they attacked the display cases with the help of grinding wheels to make their move.

They left with 88 million euros in loot, helped by two other perpetrators who had stayed outside the museum to prepare the team’s escape.
Command complete
The thieves’ trail came to a dead end in the Paris region, but thanks to DNA research, the police soon managed to arrest the men who had entered the museum. The third suspect, who drove one of the scooters with which the commando fled, was also quickly arrested. With the arrest of the fourth suspect, the command would be complete.
Despite the arrest of the entire commando unit, investigators are still looking for the stolen Crown Jewels. This concerns jewelry set with numerous diamonds and gemstones, which are of great historical value.
Further investigation is underway to identify the possible client(s) of this high-profile robbery.
