The skulls were found at Queretaro airport in central Mexico. They were wrapped in aluminum foil and placed in a cardboard box.
The package had been shipped from the western coastal state of Michoacan – one of the most violent parts of the country – and was destined for an address in Manning, South Carolina.
Local authorities gave no further details about the age, identity or possible motive for the shipment of the human remains, writes the British newspaper ‘The Guardian’.
The shipment of human remains requires a special permit from a competent health authority, and there was none, it said.
