Rio Olympic champion Laura Ludwig and Louisa Lippmann made it into the knockout stages of the Elite 16 tournament at Rothenbaum in Hamburg.
The Hamburg duo, who won bronze at the European Championships at the beginning of August, advanced to the next round with two wins and one loss as group runners-up, as did Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann.
And the two German men’s teams are still represented in the tournament. The duos Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler and Paul Henning/Sven Winter each lost two out of three games, but still ended up in the top twelve and thus in the knockout round.
Karla Borger and Sandra Ittlinger, on the other hand, had to give up after the preliminary round.
