Four French suspects arrested in investigation into luxury watch theft at Bart Versluys: “Link with home invasions is being investigated” | Ghent

Camera images showed how two robbers knocked the Ostend construction promoter Bart Versluys to the ground when he wanted to leave his office. He was then given pepper spray in the face and his luxury watch was stolen.

When it later became known that robbers had also stolen a timepiece from businessman Miguel Dheedene in Antwerp, the link was quickly made with the robbery at Versluys. At Dheedene, the loot was a watch worth 180,000 euros.

The public prosecutor has meanwhile said that it is now also being investigated whether there is a link with the two home invasions in Sint-Amandsberg at the beginning of this year. Then the same family became the victim of robbers no less than twice. One of the daughters was given pepper spray in the face in the first robbery, the father was hit in the second. “The investigation is in full swing,” says the East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office. “There is currently nothing more that can be communicated.”
