The police invaded on Friday evening, August 1, in a vacant farm along the Westernieuwweg in Varsenare, a part of Jabbeke. The investigators discovered a large drug lab. According to the public prosecutor’s office, cocaine pasta was processed into cocaine powder. That powder was then pressed into blocks. For example, more than 60 kilograms of cocaine would have been processed. The civil protection went on site to dismantle the lab.
A total of seven men were arrested during the raid. Three other suspects were arrested after their vehicle was intercepted by the investigators. After interrogation, a Dutchman and nine Colombians were arrested by the Bruges investigating judge. The council chamber in Bruges already ruled on Tuesday that a Dutchman and five Colombians had to stay in prison for at least a month longer.
