Fortuna Sittard will rent goalkeeper Michael Verrips to FC Groningen next season.
The Groningers have also negotiated an option to buy for the 25-year-old goalkeeper.

Verrips came over from Sheffield United in the past winter transfer window. Fortuna hired the goalkeeper for the rest of the season and, through a mandatory purchase option, tied the goalkeeper directly to the club until 2025. Verrips was immediately given a basic place in the team of trainer Sjors Ultee in the first games after the winter break.
Corona contamination
After Verrips had to deal with a corona infection, Yanick van Osch was allowed to play another game under the bar. Ultee was so satisfied with that performance that he decided to make Van Osch the first goalkeeper again. As a result, Verrips had to make do with a spot on the bench in the remaining games of the season.
Good feeling
Now Verrips opts for an adventure in Groningen: “The feeling at Groningen was immediately good. I was very happy that FC Groningen showed interest,” Verrips says on the channels of his new club.
