Fortuna Düsseldorf before the loan of Christoph Daferner from 1. FC Nürnberg

I think Fortuna didn’t do much wrong here.
If I understand correctly, the profile I was looking for looked something like this:

  • seasoned 2nd league striker
  • satisfied with backup role
  • can be served in the penalty area
  • is available for 1/2 year
  • There is no/hardly any fee for the time

Correct me if I’m wrong, but that would pretty much fulfill it.

Fortuna is playing for promotion throughout the season. If that is achieved, they will look for reinforcements and don’t need a Daferner with a 2-year contract on their backs.
You don’t need a player who aspires to be a regular, but rather someone who bakes smaller rolls, doesn’t cause any trouble and can still make a stand at the front.
You also have a KO in case of an emergency if the situation develops completely differently and you want to keep him.

Nuremberg has the advantage of getting rid of a player with whom they are no longer planning. If things don’t go so well, you’ll have it back in 6 months and won only a little.
Daferner gets a new chance to show himself – it just happened in Nuremberg.

In any case, I wish Fortuna good luck in the promotion race (except against us ) and Dafi good luck.
