Max Verstappen surprisingly secured the pole position for the Formula 1 race in Miami. The world champion goes into the race in front of Lando Norris in the McLaren and the again strong Kimi Antonelli.

Max Verstappen hit back at a hurry and conquered the pole position for Miami’s Grand Prix on Sunday (04.05.2025). The Formula 1 world champion, in the sprint race shortly before after an unchecked time penalty only 17th, prevailed in qualifying just ahead of McLaren-Pilot Lando Norris and Mercedes-Youngster Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

WM leader Oscar Piatri in the second McLaren had to be content with fourth place. Red Bull star Verstappen, who had become the father of little Lily just a few days ago, celebrated his 43rd pole position in Formula 1.

Hülkenberg already left in Q1

Nico Hülkenberg left the first section as the 16. Lewis Hamilton also experienced a new disappointment, and the record world champion did not get out in Ferrari just four hours after his strong appearance in the sprint race.

At the sprint on Saturday afternoon, which Norris had won on a dry route in front of Piatri and Hamilton, the two McLaren pilots in the driver’s World Cup were able to continue to break away from the pursuers. Piatri now leads with 106 points ahead of Norris (97) and Verstappen (87).
