Formula 1 | Sebastian Vettel surprised: I’m just exhibiting a trophy

Sebastian Vettel has collected a multitude of trophies in his glorious career in Formula 1, most notably his four drivers’ world championship titles. But now the German has revealed that he only has one specific trophy on display in his home.

Sebastian Vettel won 53 races in Formula 1 and received a special trophy at each of these Grands Prix. The German was named Driver of the Year three times (2009, 2011 and 2013), as well as many other smaller trophies, for example for the most overtakes (2021, 2022) or most fastest laps (2009, 2012, 2013), not to mention the four world championship titles as a driver and four more with the team that the now 36-year-old won during his time at Red Bull .

In short: If Vettel wanted to display all of these prizes in his living room at home, he would probably need at least a trophy cabinet the size of a garage. That’s probably why Vettel limited himself to just one trophy, as he revealed in an interview with “Sky”.

“I have only one trophy in the house and that is the 2010 World Cup,” Vettel surprisingly admitted. The world championship title in the year in question was Vettel’s first triumph in the premier class of motorsport and therefore probably his most important.

After Formula 1 retirement: Vettel is happy to have time to clean up

At that time, Vettel narrowly relegated veteran Fernando Alonso in his Ferrari to second place in his Red Bull car. At the end of the season, the German was four points ahead, twelve points ahead of his Red Bull teammate Marc Webber.

However, Vettel continued, he has a room away from the main living area in which he stores all his (other) trophies. “I’ve finally been able to tidy it up recently and put everything in its place, because until now everything had been packed in boxes and put aside.”

The good thing: “There haven’t been that many trophies lately, so I had a little time to clean up,” joked Vettel.

The 36-year-old stepped down as a Formula 1 driver last year after two rather disappointing seasons at Aston Martin. Vettel had previously worked for Ferrari (2015 to 2020). The German had his most successful phase at Red Bull Racing from 2009 to 2014.
