McLaren-Pilot Oscar Piatri is currently leading the Formula 1 World Cup and has long been the top favorite for the title. Already at the upcoming race in Imola (UA live on free TV at RTL), the Australian can set a record that Ayrton Senna has previously legends.
McLaren star Oscar Piatri is on fire in these weeks. The Australian won four of the past five Formula 1 races and recently triumphed three times in a row. If the 24-year-old prevails at the upcoming Grand Prix in Imola (qualification and race live on free TV at RTL), he would set a record of Ayrton Senna.
The Brazilian legend has so far been the only driver in the Formula 1 story of McLaren, who won four races in a row. Senna succeeded in the 1991 season when he won the first four races of the season. In 1988 he was at the top of the podium four times in a row.
Piatri already has the Häkkinen record
Even the three victories in Piatri series are a performance with rare value in the McLaren history. The last driver of the racing team that this feat was achieved was Mika Häkkinen. However, the Finn did not get his three victories within one season, but across the season in 1997 and 1998.
It is quite likely that Piatri will be able to win his next victory in Imola. The McLaren MCL39 is the clearly fastest car in the field. Mercedes, Red Bull and Co. bring some upgrades to Italy, whether they are enough to compensate for the tire advantage of the Papaya racers, but remains to be seen.
In the direct team duel, Piatri has also left the much better impression against Lando Norris. The young Australian showed hardly any weakness in the races, acted mercilessly while overtaking and remarkably clarified when it came to bringing a lead to the finish. In the driver’s ranking, he is currently 16 points in front of his teammate.
