McLaren sets the course for the future shortly before the start of the new Formula 1 season. As the racing team confirmed on Tuesday evening, Oscar Piatri has signed a new, multi -year contract.
Oscar Piatri will continue for McLaren in Formula 1 in the coming years.
The Australian has signed a multi -year extension of his working paper, as its employer officially announced on Tuesday evening (CEZ). Piatri was originally bound to McLaren until the end of 2026.
“It is a great feeling to know that I am part of the long-term vision of McLaren,” the 23-year-old is quoted in a message: “The team gave me his trust in 2022, and the journey that we have undertook in the past two seasons to attribute McLaren to the top of sport was incredible.”
Piatri is “not only an exceptionally talented driver, but his work ethics and seamless integration into our team made the decision to extend a contract,” said McLaren CEO ZAK Brown. The American raved: “We have the best driver duo in the field.”
McLaren strives for titles in Formula 1
In the past Formula 1 season, Piatri and Lando Norris ensured the constructor title for the traditional racing team.
“It was a pleasure to work with Oscar in the last two seasons. He has repeatedly proven how impressive he is in relation to his talent, his determination and his work ethic as a driver and his contribution to our team and our culture as a person,” commented team boss Andrea Stella commented on the contract with Piatri.
The new Formula 1 season begins in Australia at the weekend. McLaren is again considered a hot candidate for the constructor World Cup. Piatri and Norris also expect a lot in the driver’s ranking.
