In order to provide more racing action, the Formula 1 pilots were forced to stop two compulsory boxing stops at the Monaco Grand Prix. Sauber-Pilot Nico Hülkenberg was not enthusiastic afterwards. World champion Max Verstappen is a similar opinion.

Nico Hülkenberg has expressed considerable doubts about the two-stop rule that was newly introduced for the Formula 1 highlight in Monaco. She certainly did not take care of “spectacle”, the veteran said after the race at “Sky”. At most, she brought new tactics games.

It was introduced because overtaking in the principality is almost impossible. However: teams such as the racing Bulls and Williams now used to delay the game in phases in order to give a driver the time to change the tire.

Hülkenberg’s criticism is therefore clear: “It was a fairly miserable and boring race because two to three times a driver did the dirty work for his teammate and have practically blocked a stop window. And you can’t do anything if everyone drives in the DRS train.”

Due to the many tactics maneuvers, the afternoon has “not much to do with the racing. The hoped-for improvement did not occur due to the two-stop rule, said Hülkenberg.

Verstappen is “glad that it is over”

Even Red Bull star Max Verstappen didn’t have much positive about saying about the race after the race at the “Sky” microphone: “It wasn’t much going on, very boring. I am glad that it’s over.” When asked what made life in the race the hardest, the Dutch said narrowly: “Sitting in the car. Too long.”

Verstappen and his team had a lot of risk in the race. The world champion had still not made his second compulsory stop until the penultimate round – in the hope of a red flag, which would then have given him the victory.

In the end, however, he also had to turn into the box, which ultimately ended the race as fourth. “You can’t do anything about that,” said his conclusion.
