Formula 1: Hot Aston Martin rumor: Lance Stroll out

Is Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll at Aston Martin in the near to medium near future? This is indicated by a British racing driver who immediately brings a successor into play. F1 insider Felix Görner also sees this as a realistic scenario.

The days of Lance Stroll in the Aston Martin may be numbered. Rumors about a change in the main cockpit for the “Greens” have been circulating in the paddock for a while, now ex-WEC driver Richard Bradley has addressed this openly.

The Briton reckons Yuki Tsunoda will drive for Aston Martin in the future. What speaks for it: From 2026, the racing team will receive engines from the Japanese manufacturer Honda, to which Tsunoda in turn has clear connections as part of the “Honda Formula Dream Project”. Honda is currently a partner of AlphaTauri, the Tsunoda team.

Bradley believes Tsunoda could soon replace Canadian Stroll at Aston Martin. Explosive: His father Lawrence is the majority owner of the team, so he would have to kick his own son out. It’s unclear if that’s really happening.

Yuki Tsunoda is one of five drivers who do not yet have a contract for the coming season in motorsport’s premier class.

Tsunoda to Aston Martin? Not just a rumor…

“I think he’s going to be a great contender for the Aston Martin seat,” Bradley said at On Track GP. “It would make sense,” he said, referring to Tsunoda’s Honda relationship. “We’ve heard the rumors that there’s already discussion about it. I think it’s going to happen. If not next year, then 100 percent the year after that. I mean, the kid is performing, it’s doing well.” He drives very well in the “worst car in the field” and collects “arguments for himself,” said Bradley.

F1 insider and RTL reporter Felix Görner takes the same line. “It makes a lot of sense,” explains the expert. It is “very likely” that such a deal will come about. The whole thing is not just a rumor, but a “realistic scenario”.

The second Aston Martin cockpit is currently occupied by F1 veteran Fernando Alonso. Despite his 42 years, the Spaniard shows no signs of retiring anytime soon. It is considered absolute.

Most recently, he celebrated his next podium coup in Zandvoort – surprisingly, he is third in the drivers’ ranking, well ahead of team-mate Stroll, who is ninth.
