The Formula 1 Starterfeld grows in 2026: Cadillac joins the premier class of motorsport. It is not yet clear who will start for the Americans. Mick Schumacher is traded repeatedly, but also the multiple GP winner Valtteri Bottas. The Finn heated up the rumor mill with a posted video.
In 2026, Valtteri Bottas could occupy one of the two cockpit in the new Formula 1 team from Cadillac. At least that suggests a video that he shared on social media. Bottas can be seen with typical American cowboy hat. His cameraman Paul Ripke points out the Finn on a Cadillac parked on the side of the road.
The two open the door of the car and talk over the “nice place” behind the wheel. The second place in the parked car is still free. Ripke asks Finn if he didn’t want to take a seat. “Not yet,” Bottas replied.
Fans of the Finn showed the video as an early announcement that the 36-year-old will receive one of the two Cadillac cockpit for the coming season. It seems clear that either the video is a not exactly subtle reference to an early announcement or the Finn again allows itself to joke with all Formula 1 fans.
If the ten-time Grand Prix winner gets a regular place at Cadillac, this would reduce the chances for Mick Schumacher to return to Formula 1. After all, only one cockpit would be free with the new, eleventh team in the premier class of motorsport.
Formula 1: How do Mick Schumacher’s opportunities?
The German on the sidelines of Le Mans, the German on the sidelines of the 24 hours of Le Mans, explained that Schumacher is negotiating in the interview RTL/NTV and Sport.de.
In addition to Schumacher and Bottas, other ex-formula 1 drivers are traded at Cadillac. Among other things, the names Sergio Perez and Guanyu Zhou. However, the Americans could also choose one of their compatriots.
In this case, the choice on the IndyCar pilot Colton Herta or Formula-2-a-ace Jak Crawford should fall.
If the rumor mill around the two driver’s spaces so far slowly, she now put Bottas on full flame with his video.
