Oliver Bearan is one of the greatest young talents in Formula 1. The 20-year-old Brit, currently on his rookie season at Haas, has clear goals: One day he wants to sit in the red racing overall of Ferrari. The fact that he is serious about this goal makes Bearman unmistakably clear at the Grand Prize of Italy in 2025.
“Of course that’s my goal of life,” says Bearman when asked whether one day he will see himself at Ferrari. “I got a taste when I got the call last year. This is my motivation in life to be able to take it one day. But there are still many steps in between and currently my career is at Haas. I have to prove that I am able to drive for a top team by showing more constant performances here.”
In the previous year there was a little foretaste of it. When Carlos Sainz had to blow out the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia due to illness, Ferrari chose his junior Bearman as a replacement. The result: a seventh place on the Formula 1 debut and six points for Ferrari.
No fixed schedule
The speculation about a possible Ferrari cockpit in the future does not tear off-especially since Bearman is still part of the Ferrari junior academy. However, he does not get involved in a possible year when he could sit in the Ferrari: “I don’t know. I concentrate on driving quickly, and then in my opinion the rest will of course happen.”
Bearman also reacts cautiously when asked whether he had already received a perspective or a schedule on the part of Ferrari.
“No, I concentrate on my work here. There is not really much communication between me and Ferrari. Of course it is my job to show what I am able and to leave teams in general.”
“This is my job to do the best possible job. But that takes a matter of night. There is no schedule, nothing in this kind. I simply concentrate on what I do here and improve it, because I still see a lot of space to grow within this team and to get the maximum out of myself on a more constant basis.”
Bearman: This is the key
Again and again Bearman emphasizes that he has to work on constancy primarily in his development. When asked how he wanted to achieve this goal, he replies in detail: “Step one is experience. I hope that I only develop through more experience in the car with the team. We only completed 15 or 16 races of my first season. But I also created structures for myself.”
“During the summer break, I spent hours and hours analyzing data, trying to make the car faster or better. But I have hardly thought about how I mentally approach the sessions. Often you think of so many things that it is difficult to get in the car and focus. Therefore, I try to have a clear head before getting started. worked. “
Is Bearman inherited in Lewis Hamilton?
When asked about advice from Lewis Hamilton, Bearman is impressed by the seven -time world champion. “To be honest, he was one of the friendliest and most open -minded drivers in the field. I remember my first race when he was incredibly nice.”
“Sometimes we also talk to the driver parade. Always friendly, always accessible – really a good role model for young drivers. This is exactly how you should be. I can imagine that it would be very difficult if you get new to sport and the potters were unapproachable. But it wasn’t at all.”
Perhaps it is even Bearman who will one day inherit Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari. The old master still has a contract with the Scuderia until the end of 2026, but his first season in red has left something to be desired. But Bearman also has a long way to go. He is currently driving at Haas in his first full season.
After 15 races, he has 16 points in the account and thus took 16th place in the world driver’s world championship, making it clear behind teammate Esteban Ocon. For the Youngster, this is a solid basis, which, however, does not allow any conclusions about a Ferrari future, Bearan himself knows: “I still see a big development curve for me, which is a good feeling. The more I concentrate on myself, the better everything gets.”
