From a scaffolding in Den Helder, the bunches were released from the rowing boat and the long trip to Rotterdam began. In 24 hours, changing teams work continuously to reach the Maasstad on time. The participants, (former) clients of Parnassia, all have an addiction history. Matthijs from Alkmaar is one of them.

“For me it was alcohol, a surplus of drinks, it was really too much. At a certain point one is not enough anymore,” he says. In the meantime he is sober for a few months and he is doing better and better. The rowing helped.

Row to recover

“I came into contact with it through. Now I regularly row in Rotterdam. Exercising really helps me, the comrading on board among like -minded people. You are really fighting for recovery and that does more for me than regular care.”
