VVD member Ulysse Ellian has been elected as its vice-chairman. In addition to those two MPs, Marijke van Beukering (D66), Vicky Maeijer (PVV), Hilde Palland (CDA), Pepijn van Houwelingen (FvD), Nicki Pouw-Verweij (JA21), Wybren van Haga and Pieter Omtzigt are in the so-called Temporary Commission Corona. This committee is responsible for preparing the research proposal for the parliamentary inquiry.
Arib was previously tipped as chairman of the parliamentary committee of inquiry into corona policy. The House of Representatives will conduct three surveys in the coming years. For example, research is being conducted into gas extraction in Groningen and into the allowance affair. The House will soon decide on the design of the survey into the corona crisis. During a parliamentary inquiry, MPs can call witnesses to hear them under oath. Anyone found to be lying faces jail time.
Arib (61) is one of the longest serving members of the House of Representatives. For years she spoke for her party about care. From 2016 to 2021 she was chairman of the House of Representatives.
