Christina Weirather’s family is expanding. The former athlete is becoming a mother for the second time.
At the annual press conference for her joint “Podcast on the Edge of the Slopes” with comedian Michael Schweizer and ex-ski racer Marc Berthod, Christina “Tina” Weirather announced surprising news. The former ski racer alluded to a “highlight” in front of her colleagues before explaining: “The second baby is on the way. It’s coming in mid-March.”
As a result, the 36-year-old turned over her name tag that was on the table in front of her. The words “disco ball in the stomach” could be read there for the media present. Since her child is expected in March, “I will have a replacement from then on,” Weirather continued. The former athlete has not yet wanted to reveal who will step in for her. Weirather will also have to take a break as a ski expert and co-commentator for women’s races on Swiss television SRF.
In her active career, Weirather took part in 222 World Cup races and celebrated nine victories. She became runner-up in the Super-G in 2017, celebrated the bronze medal at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018 and won the small crystal ball in 2017 and 2018 as the best athlete in the discipline ranking. The Liechtenstein native ended her career in spring 2020.
Weirather has been dating Swiss radio presenter Fabio Nay since the 2016/17 season. In September 2022, the two married in Malbun, a village of 100 people in Liechtenstein. The following year, Weirather and Nay became parents for the first time. Son Lio was born in January 2024. Now the couple has child number two.
