Former shot put world champion Storl third in Thum

Former shot put world champion David Storl had to settle for third place in an athletics competition.

The ball from Leipzig landed at 19.91 meters at the throwing day in Thum in Saxony. Victory went to Britain’s Scott Lincoln, who won with 20.59 meters.

“The difference between competition and training is very big right now,” said the 31-year-old Storl on “MDR”. “Today it was a small step backwards, but now we’re going straight ahead.”

Storl did not compete in outdoor competitions in 2021 due to back problems and missed the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The 2012 Olympic silver medalist wants to be there at the highlights of the season, the World Championships in Eugene (USA) in July and the European Championships in August in Munich. He fights for the norms.
