A former MMA fighter admitted in court that he shot his partner. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, the admission of guilt saved him from the death penalty-instead, he was sentenced to a long prison sentence.
The case occurred in the USA in May 2021. According to media reports, there had been several arguments between the fighter and his partner, which was apparently revealing his drug addiction.
In the course of the argument, he pulled a gun and fired on the woman. The first shot missed her, but shortly afterwards two balls met her back. She died at the scene.
After the crime, the perpetrator stolen the victim’s bank card and withdrawn $ 1,500 in order to obtain new drugs. Then he returned to the common house. Only after he had breastfed his intoxication did he choose the emergency call. He presented himself as a concerned relative and claimed that the house was robbed and his partner was found dead.

Six days later, the suspect was arrested after the police had heard a phone call in which he confessed to a friend. He admitted to having acted under the influence of drugs.
In the court proceedings, the accused finally announced himself guilty. Thanks to an agreement with the public prosecutor, the original indictment for the first degree murder, which is punished in Florida with the death penalty, was downgraded to a second degree. This saved him the possible conviction on the death penalty. Instead, he was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
