Former HSV coach Tim Walter returns to Kiel

Tim Walter takes over as coach at Holstein Kiel after Marcel Rapp was released. His first mission is imminent.
Holstein Kiel has hired Tim Walter as its new coach to lead the club out of danger of relegation in the second Bundesliga. The 50-year-old replaces Marcel Rapp, who was released after almost four and a half years.
Walter was already the coach of Kiel in the 2018/19 season and brings experience from his time at Hamburger SV, VfB Stuttgart and most recently at the English second division team Hull City. The club is currently in 14th place in the table and hopes that Walter can use his experience to provide new impetus. He will lead his first training session on Wednesday.
In a statement from the club it is said that Walter should “give new impetus to the current sporting situation”. This announcement confirms the first report from the TV channel Sky. Marcel Rapp once led Holstein Kiel into the Bundesliga, but the current situation required a change. The decision to release him was made on Tuesday in order to open up new perspectives for the club.
