Former Fenerbahçe manager Hakan Safi made statements regarding the agenda.
Safi made a statement to the press after the third anniversary event of the Istanbul Fenerbahçe Supporters Association, which was held at Çırağan Palace with the participation of Fenerbahçe Club President Sadettin Saran.
Referring to the success of the National Football Team, which managed to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Safi said, “We were in Kosovo yesterday. We witnessed the final match of our National Team 24 years later. We also witnessed history. We have been enjoying it since yesterday. It was difficult, but the end was good. History always remembers the winners, it does not remember the good or bad of the game. We are very happy to participate in 2026 after 2002. We thank our Minister who made this success possible.” We would like to thank (Osman Aşkın Bak), our federation president and our coach. Coach Montella was walking around the field with the Turkish flag in his hand. Frankly, I was very proud. It was the second nice move I saw after our former coach Daum. Safi, who also thanked the star and crescent football players, said about being criticized for the material and moral support he gave to the national team players: “I am no longer a sports manager in Fenerbahçe. I am a normal citizen like you. I continue to support both Fenerbahçe and Turkish football. I am also a sports person, I try to support sports. I also asked our president İbrahim to support our national team of my own accord. He is also a person of our region, and he accepted, thanks to him. “I tried to make a small contribution to his participation in the Cup. I tried to ignite the fire. I see that the entire Turkish public is united very well on this issue, everyone is trying to take responsibility.” made his assessment.
Emphasizing that everyone should support the national team, Safi said:
“Of course, our players do not need money, but what is important here is that everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, is involved in this business. I tried to do this, I tried to fire it up, but I see people saying things like ‘what is he doing there, why is he giving money, why is he entering the locker room?’ Why is it said ‘he is touching the football players’? Whatever you feel, I feel the same. I tried to touch all of the players there before they went on the field. It developed spontaneously, together with our Minister, we did not distinguish any team. Thanks to the players, they love us and respect us. They see our claim and know why.
Now I will speak as a Fenerbahçe supporter. I know very well that those who try to criticize me are from Galatasaray. Fear is of no use to death. There are teams that get disturbed when we start doing something, go to the federation, Ankara, and consult with rival teams properly. I know very well that Fenerbahce fans did not do this. The people who did this are Galatasaray fans. Galatasaray teams, fear is of no use. Hopefully we will continue to do these from now on. I try to act as a child of Turkish sports as I feel like. I know what I’m doing, good luck. I will continue to do it, I will break all their routines. “The one who will benefit from this is Fenerbahçe Club.”
Thanking Istanbul Fenerbahçe Supporters Association President Alaattin Yavuz Güneş for the invitation, Safi concluded his words as follows:
“We came here today as guests of the Istanbul Fenerbahçe Supporters Association. Our president, Alaattin, is also the valuable president of Erzincanspor. He invited us, we accepted the invitation. We came here today, the election is not the agenda of this place. Sadettin is our elected president. I went to him. He had an accident yesterday, I wished him a speedy recovery. ‘President, mind your business, don’t look at anyone, look at the team’s championship, our hopes still continue. Fenerbahçe will always be your hopes. I said, ‘It’s a team.
It is not right to talk about the election. I will also attend the meeting on the 18th, I think some messages will be given there. I hope our agenda today is not an election. Elections should not be held every year in Fenerbahçe. It is an elected administration, it should be left on time and on its day. Fenerbahçe should focus on the field. It has an elected president. Our president has special circumstances and he will make the best decision. We have important matches ahead of us. There is a Beşiktaş match. We will always act with the mentality of full support in the stands.
