Fortuna Düsseldorf has apparently found a successor for Klaus Allofs. The new boss particularly attracted attention in Dortmund.
Fortuna Düsseldorf has apparently chosen Sven Mislintat as the new sports director to succeed Klaus Allofs. This is what “Bild” reports.
The supervisory board of the struggling second division team decided in favor of the 53-year-old. The confirmation will now be officially made at a meeting this weekend. In addition to Mislintat, Sebastian Schindzielorz, who was recently released from VfL Wolfsburg, is also said to have been on Fortuna’s wish list
Mislintat worked as chief scout at Borussia Dortmund from 2006 to 2017 and returned in a new role in May 2024. In February he was fired after a power struggle with BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl. After his first stint in Dortmund, Mislintat also worked for FC Arsenal, VfB Stuttgart and Ajax Amsterdam.
Fortuna boss Allofs recently announced that he would not be extending his contract, which runs until June 30, 2026. According to the report, he will probably leave the club at the beginning of next week.
Things aren’t going well for Fortuna Düsseldorf so far this season. After a weak start to the season, the team is in danger of falling to the bottom of the 2nd Bundesliga table this weekend. On Sunday, coach Markus beginning’s team will face SV Elversberg (from 1:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).
