Former bassist and co-founder Bon Jovi passed away | entertainment

“Our hearts are broken by the news of the death of our good friend Alec John Such,” the American rock group said. “Alec had a very important role in founding the band. To be honest, we found each other because of him.”

The musician was a childhood friend of drummer Tico Torres and he once invited Richie Sambora, later Bon Jovi’s guitarist, to a performance. Memories of Such bring the band members a “smile on their faces and tears in their eyes,” according to the group. “We will miss him very much.”

Such was in Bon Jovi from 1983 to 1994. The bassist thought it was getting too much and felt “burned out,” he said in an interview with the Asbury Park Press newspaper in 2000. “It felt like work and I didn’t want to work. The reason I ever wanted to be in a band was because I didn’t want to work.”
