‘Forever damaged by dirty action’

Albert Verlinde seriously damaged his reputation in the final phase of his career with his ugly accusation against Humberto Tan. That is the opinion of communication expert Lars Duursma.

It is undeniable that Albert Verlinde, as one of the founders of RTL Boulevard, made an enormous contribution to the success of RTL 4. It is therefore a shame that he made such a big slip at the end of his career, the men think of the weekly media podcast The Communicados.

Dirty rumours

Albert was found guilty of libel last month in the case brought against him by Humberto Tan. The show connoisseur wrongly accused the talk show host of transgressive behavior behind the scenes of RTL Late Night. Comedian Dolf Jansen now believes that Albert’s ribbon should be taken away.

According to communication expert Lars Duursma, it is evident that Albert has seriously damaged himself. “He will be reminded for the rest of his life that he spread those dirty rumors. It also discourages people from making random accusations.”

Drop bomb

Albert spread the rumors about Humberto on purpose. “Yes, he said: ‘I’m going to drop a bomb’ and then he came up with that story,” says co-host Victor Vlam.

Humberto did not accept it and therefore filed a report. Lars: “He was shocked and didn’t know how quickly he had to say: ‘Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean it that way. Please accept my apologies!’ Humberto Tan did not agree to that. He has retained that declaration.”

‘Albert damaged’

Lars thinks that is very clever of Humberto. “It accomplished two things. One that the whole accusation against Humberto Tan has been dropped and that his name has been cleared and two that Albert Verlinde has also been really damaged.”

Victor: “It is indeed a blot on his career.”

Lars: “I think the next one will think three times before you just make a serious accusation out of the blue.”
