In 2024, foreign investors bought Belgian government paper for a record amount of 56 billion euros, two to five times as much as the previous years. That is according to figures from the National Bank, writes ‘De Tijd’ today. At the end of last year, foreigners had 60.8 percent of Belgian government debt with 390.8 billion euros.
