The colorful and noisy procession has just passed as Jasper Groeneveld connect. He has just finished the entire Java island and had eyes too short. “We looked at four boats. We have been here since 11 a.m. to include everything in us.”
He shines when he tells about his fascination for the ships. “I like how it comes together, all those old big boats. I grew up in a family that loves sailing. Then such an event like this is wonderful.”
He continues, slightly louder to drown out the sound of the drums: “The atmosphere is also good at it, especially with the people from Peru. It is a beautiful sight, all those sailors in such a long parade. They get the attention they deserve, that’s beautiful.”
