Vice European champions England will have to do without full-back Ben Chilwell at the World Cup in Qatar.

The 25-year-old tore a thigh muscle during the week in the Champions League, according to his club Chelsea.

Chilwell will now complete a rehabilitation program, it said. The defensive player was seen as an alternative to Luke Shaw on the left.

On the right defensive side, the favorites for the tournament from November 20th to December 18th are already threatened with the loss of regular player Reece James, who is also injured.

England will meet Iran, the USA and Wales in Group B of the preliminary round.
