As of: September 15, 2023 8:50 p.m

SC Verl was 0-2 behind at MSV Duisburg after just 13 minutes on the 6th matchday of the 3rd league, but was still celebrating their second win of the season in stoppage time.

The Verlers won 3-2 (1-2) in Duisburg on Friday evening and are now climbing out of the table cellar with seven points. MSV, on the other hand, is still waiting for its first win of the season and is lagging behind its own expectations with only three points after six games. Duisburg is in the bottom of the table.

MSV made it 2-0 early in the game with a double strike. Joshua Bitter (9th) and Sebastian Mai (13th) scored. The SC Verl But got back into the game before the break, Lars Lokotsch scored in the 45th minute. Maël Corboz equalized after 56 minutes and also scored in the third minute of stoppage time to give Lost victory.

MSV Duisburg with an early double strike

MSV started the game aggressively, pressed the losers high and took control of the game early on. The reward was the early lead. Bitter and Caspar Jander teamed up through the Verl defense and in the end it was bitter when SCV keeper Luca Unbehaun beat SCV keeper Luca Unbehaun with a powerful shot.

And the people of Duisburg didn’t let off the gas. Again it was Jander who did the preparatory work for the 2-0, but this time for May. The defender had too much space in the penalty area and scored well into the bottom right corner (13′).

Surprising loser Connection hit

Verl struggled but didn’t get into the game. It was all the more surprising that the goal came shortly before the half-time whistle. Yari Otto won the ball from Alexander Esswein on the left and passed it on to Corboz, who shot straight away. Lokotsch deflected the ball decisively (45th).

The East West team carried the momentum into the second half and equalized after 56 minutes. After a lay-up by Oliver Batista Meier, Corboz was initially denied by a Duisburg defender, but headed the rebound into the bottom corner.

Corbuz scores to win

But then nothing happened for a long time. At first there were no more great chances. And when most people were already expecting a draw, Corboz struck again. After a corner, the ball landed at the feet of Verler, who got stuck again with his first attempt, but shot the second powerfully into the bottom right corner for Verler’s celebrated victory.

MSV now continues next Saturday (September 23rd, 2023, 2 p.m.) with an away game at Viktoria Köln. SC Verl hosts Borussia Dortmund II at the same time.
