    Half-time conclusion:
The German U21s have a well-deserved 1-0 lead in the qualifying game against Estonia at the break! For a long time it looked as if the DFB selection could not convert their superiority into goals. First Röhl hit the crossbar, then Moukoko hit the post. Germany then had further top opportunities through Beier and Moukoko, but the strong Estonian keeper Kaur Kivila still got a hand or a foot in the way. It wasn’t until the 39th minute that Hoffenheim’s Beier took the long-overdue lead with a fine individual action and a well-placed long-range shot. Knauff could have added more, but he didn’t aim accurately enough from ten meters. Offensively, it’s been a courageous and worth seeing performance by Di Salvo’s team against Estonia, who were able to show their offensive strength every now and then, but almost never come out of their own half. Let’s continue with the second round in Paderborn!

  • 45.

    6:46 p.m

    End of 1st half

  • 45.

    6:45 p.m

There is 60 seconds of extra time. The DFB team pushes and pushes. Estonia just wants to escape into the dressing room.

  • 45.

    6:45 p.m

    Official injury time (minutes): 1

  • 44.

    6:45 p.m

Now Kivila, who had been outstanding to date, hesitates and Morgalla comes close to a long ball from Röhl on the right in the penalty area. The Salzburg player slides the ball past the keeper, but unfortunately just wide of the goal.

  • 43.

    18:43

He has to at least be on goal! And you can do that too. Beier’s cross is inadequately cleared and Knauff has a clear path from ten meters, but pushes the ball one meter past the goal to the left.

  • 41.

    18:41

Germany continues to build steam and wants to step up. Eric Martel takes a powerful shot from 25 meters and forces Kaur Kivila to make the next save. The keeper sees the central shot late and parries with his left foot.

  • 39.

    6:39 p.m

    Maximilian Beier

Tooor for Germany, 1-0 by Maximilian Beier

The spell is broken! Maximilian Beier gets the ball in midfield, turns on the turbo and walks through to the penalty area. 20 meters in front of the box, the Hoffenheim player presses the shot with his right and shoots it to the right corner. The ball turns in from the outside, unstoppable for Kivila, and finds its way into the net via the inside post.

  • 37.

    6:37 p.m

Röhl also makes a bad pass in midfield and the Estonians push quickly down the right side. But the last pass was played too sharply and there was no danger.

  • 35.

    6:35 p.m

Brown wants to pass the ball half-high in the back row and almost puts the ball at the feet of an Estonian striker. There was just enough traction left, otherwise it would have been a great chance for the guests. That could have been eye-catching.

  • 32.

    18:32

The ball just doesn’t want to go in! Now Hoffenheim’s Beier has his first big chance, but fails after a long corner from very close range because of the strongly reacting Estonian keeper.

  • 31.

    6:31 p.m

Youssoufa Moukoko takes the lead and flicks the ball beautifully over the wall. It would have fit right next to the left post, but Kivila smells the roast, flies off in time and parries for the corner.

  • 30.

    6:30 p.m

Martel passes the ball past Luts 25 meters to the left of the goal and draws the foul. This gives Germany a free kick in a very promising position.

  • 28.

    18:28

Ansgar Knauff is strong on his left side against two Estonians and is then through into the penalty area. He wants to push into the far corner from ten meters, but at the last second a leg gets in the way. Slowly but surely it is becoming a bit careless what the DFB is doing with its chances.

  • 26.

    18:26

When the Estonians do make it into the opponent’s half, they almost always do well and find themselves in finishing situations. This time the guests let the ball run around the box for a long time, then Luts fired from 19 meters. Noah Atubolu securely saves the deflected shot.

  • 24.

    18:24

The next good option! Brajan Gruda dances past two Estonians in the box on the right and then passes it back to Moukoko from the baseline. The 18-year-old doesn’t fully hit his shot at the five-pointer and Kivila can just manage to direct the ball around the post.

  • 22.

    18:22

Merlin Röhl repeatedly asserts himself strongly on the ball and uses fine technique to repeatedly move inwards from the right side. 20 meters in front of the goal he finishes with his left, but is just disturbed and misses clearly.

  • 19.

    6:19 p.m

Now the Estonians are freeing themselves again and things are getting dangerous! Daniel Luts picks up speed on the right, is sent to the baseline and finds Sillamaa with his flat cross, whose finish from the penalty spot is just blocked.

  • 18.

    6:17 p.m

So far it’s been a really good and inspired performance from the German U21s. Estonia doesn’t come into the game at all because the DFB juniors are now combining at high speed and are constantly creating gaps. Only one hit is missing.

  • 16.

    6:16 p.m

Now Knauff dribbles from the left and passes through to Brown on the baseline. He wants to serve Moukoko with his strong cross, but an Estonian gets his foot in the way at the five-square point.

  • 14.

    6:14 p.m

The tour is now overdue! Estonia can hardly get out of their own box and the DFB team scores shot after shot. Röhl’s long-range shot is unintentionally blocked by Martel. That would probably have been dangerous too.

  • 12.

    18:13

The next aluminum hit! Gruda moves inwards from the left and passes through to Moukoko in the penalty area. The Dortmund player turns in a small space and shoots the ball from twelve meters to the right post!

  • 11.

    18:11

After Röhl’s aluminum hit, the Germans stay on the trigger and settle in the box. Moukoko prevails against two Estonians, but this time too she doesn’t finish.

  • 9.

    6:10 p.m

The first chance almost takes the lead! Merlin Röhl receives the ball at the right corner of the penalty area, puts the ball on his left foot and hits the ball crossbar! Keeper Kaur Kivila would have had no chance.

  • 8th.

    6:09 p.m

The DFB team has a lot of ball possession and combines well, but does not yet have the necessary speed in their actions. Röhl takes the advanced Morgalla with him on the outside, but his flat cross is easily intercepted.

  • 6.

    6:06 p.m

The Balts actually play bravely with the ball and always look for playful solutions. The Blues have already shown themselves to the German penalty area twice, but have not found a conclusion.

  • 4.

    6:05 p.m

Nominally, the guests act in a 4-3-3, just like Germany. But it looks more like Estonia will field two chains of four against the ball in front of their own penalty area.

  • 3.

    6:04 p.m

Antonio Di Salvo had announced a very offensive and aggressive start for his team. So far, the German boys have taken it easy. Moukoko dribbles centrally in front of the box for the first time, but quickly gets stuck.

  • 1.

    6:00 p.m

The ball is rolling! As usual, Germany wears black and white, Estonia plays in blue.

    Game start

  • 5:57 p.m

Poland has just defeated Israel 2-1 in the parallel game and thus achieved their fourth win in the fourth game. The German neighbors confidently lead the table. On Tuesday there will be a direct duel with the DFB team, who want to stay close to the Poles today and gain self-confidence for the big game in four days.

  • 5:55 p.m

The referee of the game is Kazakh Daniyar Sekhir. Together with his impartial colleagues, the referee is already leading the teams onto the lawn of the Home Deluxe Arena and in a few minutes the ball will finally be rolling!

  • 5:30 p.m

Compared to the success in Bulgaria, there are five changes to the German selection. In addition to Adeyemi and Netz, Robert Wagner and Kenneth Schmidt are also not in the squad today, and Colin Kleine-Bekel has also been rotated to the bench. New to the team are Nathaniel Brown, Márton Dárdai, Jamil Siebert, Eric Martel and Brajan Gruda. Estonia’s coach Sander Post also made five changes compared to the 0:5 in Poland and, among others, let Freiburg’s Vaher play in the defense center from the start.

  • 17:22

Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, who surprisingly turned down his invitation to join the German U21 national team, cannot help today. Apparently to concentrate entirely on BVB. “We don’t need to open a barrel now because of a personnel issue,” di Salvo made clear and added: “We’re now concentrating on the players who are here and I’m very happy about the squad I have here.” Apart from Luca Netz, who was injured at short notice, all the players present are fit and the German coach can more or less make full use of the game.

  • 5:13 p.m

Estonia has already played twice as many games as the DFB team in qualifying group D, but have only picked up a single point. Only Bulgaria managed to get a draw on home soil, while there was nothing to be gained against Kosovo and twice against Poland. The best-known player in the Estonian squad is central defender Andreas Vaher from SC Freiburg’s U23 team. Despite the clearly assigned roles, di Salvo warned against the Estonians. “We have to crack the opponent first. They also had some close games in the qualifying phase,” said the DFB coach.

  • 5:02 p.m

Since the embarrassing preliminary round exit at the European Championships in the summer, the German U21 has held up well and won all three matches. In addition to a 2-0 friendly win against Ukraine, Antonio di Salvo’s team also won 3-0 in Kosovo and 3-2 in Bulgaria in qualifying. This means that Germany has so far achieved the optimal result of six points. While the first two victories were achieved confidently, the most recent success in Sofia was difficult again. It took a hat-trick from Youssoufa Moukoko and the kind help of the opposing keeper to bring the Bulgarians to their knees.

  • 5:00 p.m

Hello and welcome to the German U-21 national team’s next European Championship qualifier! At 6 p.m. the DFB youngsters will meet the Estonian team in Paderborn.
