At just 17 years old, Nestory Irankunda is making a splash in Australia. Now FC Bayern Munich is striking and is securing the services of the highly gifted attacker from the summer. It is an investment in the future.

FC Bayern Munich has signed one of Australia’s greatest talents. As the record champions announced on Tuesday (November 14th), Nestory Irankunda is moving to Munich in the summer of 2024. The 17-year-old attacker signed a long-term contract with FCB, but will remain with his training club Adelaide United until the end of the season.

“Extremely fast, good at dribbling and finishing”

“Nestory is an extremely fast wing player, good at dribbling and finishing and has a lot of ability to get to the goal. We are convinced of his potential and that he will take the next steps with us,” explained Jochen Sauer, director of youth development, in a club statement. According to consistent media reports, Bayern are transferring a six-figure amount to Adelaide.

Irankunda is creating a buzz in Australia

Irankunda is a current Australian U17 international and the right-footed player has scored eleven goals in just seven appearances. The Tanzanian-born striker also impressed in the A-League, the highest Australian league, with nine goals and two assists (39 competitive games). His spectacular goal celebrations with flick flacks and somersaults have also already spread on social media.

Because of his strong performances, he was invited to the Australian senior national team in March. Irankunda will continue to hunt for goals for Adelaide until the end of the season. “The experiences of the next few months in the A-League will certainly have a very positive effect on his further development,” said Sauer.
