The 271st Frankenderby was also characterized by passion and emotions. But in the sold-out Max Morlock Stadium there was no winner between 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The game ended 1:1.

No winner in the 271st Frankenderby: 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth drew 1-1, which did not help either team significantly in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Fürth gets off to a dream start

Fürth got off to a dream start. The guests took the lead in the 8th minute. Damian Michalski, who is strong in the header, had a completely free header from meters away – the Nuremberg defense hardly showed any resistance to the goal.

Alexander Zorniger’s team demanded a lot from the club, immediately counter-pressed and continued to look for a way forward. In the 23rd minute, the home team was lucky that a goal from Niko Gießelmann was disallowed due to offside – once again the club defense didn’t look good.

It was only after 30 minutes that Nuremberg got into the game better, but carelessly missed a few chances. Shortly before the break, Fürth’s Orestis Kiomourtzoglou gave a completely unnecessary penalty – youngster Can Uzun safely converted the penalty. In the subsequent injury time of the first half, Fürth’s keeper Andreas Linde parried Benjamin Goller’s shot – Nuremberg almost turned the game around in a very short time.

Open exchange of blows in the 2nd half

Shortly after the restart, the game had to be briefly interrupted – Fürth supporters set off fireworks; Sports director Rachid Azzouzi could only shake his head. The game continued – and now the fireworks took place on the pitch.

Both teams, spurred on by the incredible atmosphere in the stadium, exchanged blows openly. But the club creates the better chances. In the 76th minute, Florian Hübner missed the Fürth goal by just centimeters. Ten minutes later, Linde made a strong save to fend off a dangerous header from Kanji Okunuki. Nuremberg were significantly closer to the winning goal in the final minutes than Fürth, but in the end they had to settle for a point.
