    16:19

    Half-time conclusion:
    1. FC Cologne deservedly lead 1-0 against the Hamburg sports club at the break! Łukasz Kwasniok’s team showed a convincing first half, in which the coach’s tactical plan fully worked: From the 20th minute onwards, FC defended one-on-one all over the pitch and thus posed major problems for HSV. It took half an hour for the Polzin team to appear in front of the Cologne gate for the first time. Every now and then counterattack opportunities arise from the fast Dompé and Philippe, but even in these situations the Kwasniok team was wide awake and always ensured the advantage. The visiting coach will have to react, otherwise the cathedral town team will have clear advantages in the promoted duel.

However, both direct duels in the league went to Hamburg: In Cologne, the Rothosen won 2-1 and in the local Volkspark the Dino celebrated a 1-0. • 14:52

FC has had a difficult week, which, in addition to the defeats against Dortmund and Bayern, was particularly marked by the serious knee injury of defense chief Timo Hübers. The 29-year-old suffered two cruciate ligament tears at the start of his career and is now even more seriously affected. The season is definitely over for the central defender. Łukasz Kwasniok will still have to do without Jan Thielmann, who is still recovering from a muscle injury. HSV coach Polzin, on the other hand, can rely on winger Dompé again, who was sidelined in the cup due to problems with his Achilles tendon.

  • 2:42 p.m

After the cup defeat against Bayern, Łukasz Kwasniok’s team has to quickly focus on day-to-day business. A midfield duel awaits the Domstadt team against HSV, but Cologne goes into the game as slight favorites. On home soil, FC have so far only had to admit defeat to VfB Stuttgart in the league. Merlin Polzin’s team is still waiting for its first away win in the league this season, but was at least successful in the DFB Cup in Heidenheim during the week and is now in the round of 16. The two teams are separated by three points in the table and so the guests could move up to ninth in the table if they are successful today.
