Dangerous driving and a truck that rams a police car during a chase. This can be seen in a video shared by the police on Wednesday. The images show a pursuit of a truck thief in Breda.
The images date from July last year. It shows from the police car the moment when the police saw a stolen truck driving on Graaf Engelbertlaan in Breda. The officers give chase, after which the driver, a man now 36 from Halsteren, ignores several stop signs.
The suspect does everything he can to escape the police. For example, he tries to fool police officers in Breda by pretending to turn down. He then drives quickly onto the highway towards Belgium.

By then, the police will also be reinforced. When a police car drives in front of the truck and tries to slow down, it is rammed. The colleagues end up on the roadside. “I’m fine,” they respond on the walkie-talkie.
Once across the border, Belgian colleagues also join in. They make a plan to roll out nail mats. It doesn’t get that far. The thief changes his mind and suddenly stops on the hard shoulder. Officers hold the suspect at gunpoint as he steps out of the cabin.
Imprisonment
In addition to thefts and threats, the man from Halsteren was also convicted in June this year of serious assault and attempted manslaughter. He was sentenced to one year in prison and is then banned from driving for eighteen months.
The man, who was addicted to drugs, had stolen the truck a day before his crazy ride from a company in Woerden where he worked at the time.
