Foo Fighters played “Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam” – Dave Grohl’s personal reference to his Nirvana legacy – for the first time at the BottleRock Festival.
In 1994, Nirvana played a now legendary MTV Unplugged set. In addition to the band’s lesser-known songs, it contained cover versions – including songs by David Bowie, the Meat Puppets and “Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam” by The Vaselines. Now the Foo Fighters play the song – and make a reference to Nirvana with their version of the Vaselines song…
