Foo Fighters Release Thrash Metal Song “March Of The Insane”

the Foo Fighters have released a thrash metal song entitled “March of the Insane” under the band name Dream Widow. The excursion into new genre waters has a reason: Next week, on February 25 to be precise, the horror comedy “Studio 666” conceived by the US group will be released. So it is safe to assume that Dream Widow is a fictional band referred to in the film. It is said to be about the Foos attempting to record a new record in a haunted mansion.

The Foos walk in the footsteps of Venom, Slayer and Celtic Frost

The track “March of the Insane” is reminiscent of early thrash metal à la Venom, Slayer and Celtic Frost – both in terms of overwhelming riffs and in terms of the lyrics: “Sing in a villainous choir / Join in chorus of pain” it says therein Mephistophelic. According to the YouTube description, it’s from Dream Widow’s “never released self-titled album”.

Incidentally, the new song is not a metal maiden voyage for singer Dave Grohl: In 2014 he founded his side project Probot and released a self-titled album, which featured a number of metal greats – including Venom’s Cronos, Soulfly’s Max Cavalera, King Diamond and Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead.
